Safe, Supportive & School Ready!
North Garden Academy is in the process of becoming a state-licensed, center-based child day program that prioritizes learning in under-served areas.
All classrooms, play areas, restrooms and other facilities are designed to comply with state-mandated ratios and program requirements. Our operational plan is constructed using licensing standards and “best practice” standards as the foundation. Our policies and procedures meet or exceed local and state regulations.
We provide comprehensive early childhood education, health, nutrition and parent involvement services for children and families with significant financial limitations. We currently only serve children aged 3 to 4 years who meet Head Start’s enrollment requirements, but expansion at our current location and other sites is already underway.
We have and will continue to conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with and adherence to established standards, including child-to-teacher ratios and the provision of safe facilities. We are subject to inspections by state and local health, fire, licensing and building authorities. These regulations and inspections encompass staff qualifications, facilities and playground, nutrition, health and safety concerns, record-keeping practices and child-to-staff ratios.
Please feel free to schedule a time to meet with our principal or any member of our team if you wish to discuss needs or concerns. For inquiries regarding licensing or regulations, please contact the VDOE Office of Child Care Health and Safety at 804-921-7688.
Over 30 Million Served
The oldest and largest program of its kind, our qualified educators will use methods, resources and systems that have been researched, implemented and appropriately adapted to make them increasingly effective since 1965.
We are partnering with the United Way of Greater Charlottesville, ReadyKids and subject-matter experts to ensure that children in our community have a safe space to snack, study, play and stay 8am until 3:00pm each school day.
There are considerably more hurdles and much more red tape in the route we are taking, but our team is committed to completing all the necessary steps so a few more kids can enter Albemarle and Nelson public schools each August with a better educational foundation.
